With this album released in 2003, Basily offers a rather eclectic repertoire. Many swing, played very well (we feel that there is job training has existed for over 15 years ...), some bossas manouches (one is not for nothing ...), Dutch ballads. .. and sometimes quite unpleasant things, when the family appears to succumb to concessions rumbalisantes “quite coolly commercial (horrible Gitano percussion with electronic convenience recalling the worst times of the Gipsy Kings ...).
Fortunately, the album is still excellent, with even a few happy surprises. Notemment when musicians attack, with much success, to a repertoire bop: this is the case on Relaxin ‘’’’at Camarillo Parker to swing ruthless (impossible not to tap your foot ...!) And any the world seems to enjoy playing the blues, or on changes on Lullaby of Birdland in bossa manouche.
Another pleasant surprise on this disc effective, it is invited to Roland Stolk vibraphone on two tracks (and swing Tjawo Lullaby) responds beautifully to the guitar manouche de Popy Basily (the timbre of the instruments blends quite nicely ). And the virtuoso cymballum, Giani Lincan we have recently heard alongside Tchavolo, will vibrate the strings on four tracks: unleashed on Minor Blues, it is also very inspired on Here’’’’s that rainy day (but a little less convincing on its membership for all children)......
